When you buy a coffee maker, you need to be armed with the right knowledge that concerns coffee machines shopping. It is imperative for you to do so if you want to walk away with a coffee maker that can jump start your day the right way.

Coffee Maker

To help you out, here are the things you need to do-itemized in black and white for you. Remember these things when choosing, and you are good to go:

1… Before embarking on an immediate search for the ideal coffee brewer, you should already have a clear idea of what you want. If you don’t, the wide array of choices will surely confuse you. Why don’t you try listing down the essential things you want your coffee machines to have.

If you want a fully programmable coffee brewer, list it down. If you want something that makes coffee in record time, list it down. It does not necessarily mean all of them have to be in one coffee brewer. But you can easily choose a coffee maker that comes close to what you want.

2… You should know what brew capacity you are going to get. If there are a lot of you drinking coffee at home, a larger brew coffee maker is fine. But if it is just you, you might want to try looking for single-serve coffee makers or two-cup coffee makers as it is more convenient.

3… Choose one with a permanent filter, or so experts say. You can still find a number of coffee machines with replaceable filters today. But chances are, consumers who have tried them are complaining about the hassle of replacing those filters. Learn from their lesson and opt for one where in it is unnecessary to replace the filter.

4… Set a budget for your grinder and brewer. You don’t want to end up spending way too much on a coffee maker, do you? If you don’t have a specific budget plan, there is a tendency that you might go astray.

5… Pick the maker that is a breeze to clean. Seriously, who has time for cleaning? But then again, we could not leave our coffee makers unwashed, otherwise, coffee essential oils will surely collect. Pick one that can be washed using your dishwasher. You might also want to try those with detachable parts so you can easily access it.

It does not really take a genius or a coffee guru to buy a coffee maker. Just keep these tips in mind and you can choose a good one.

For some reason, when I make coffee at home with my 4 cup coffee maker, it has a chemical taste/smell. It sort of smells like rubbing alcohol, and tastes how it smells. I am using the correct amount of coffee, and I made sure there is no soap residue from when I wash out the pot and filter basket. Has anyone else had this problem before? Also-this has happened to two different brands of coffee makers; I threw my Mr.Coffee one in the garbage because I thought the chemical was coming from that, but my Cuisinart does the same.

Is it possible the chemical taste could be a plastic taste. I just read on a coffee forum the same question as yours. I do not agree with the others as the water being the problem. I would first look at the type coffee grounds I was using before investing in a water filter system. (are you able to drink the water from the tap? if you are than it is not the water for sure. Call Cuisinart before you toss it like your Mr. Coffee. It appears you are not the only one having a problem with the Cuisinart:

That coffeemaker smell is REAL!
by: Mama G

This past March I bought a new coffeemaker Cuisinart DCC 1200 Series and could not wait to try it the first time. Well to my surprise it smelled like a chemical plant giving off it’s fumes. I had to waste the first couple pots before I wised up to washing it with vinegar a couple times and it reduced it 99%. I’ll continue to clean it again and hope to get the 1% out. The manufacturers should tell us consumers what to expect. They owe us not for the maker only but for the wasted expensive coffee we had to toss out. In closing there have been so many recalls of products you have to be careful what you consume or wear these days.

Coffee from new coffeemaker tastes putrid
by: Monie
We bought a new Cuisinart coffeemaker. To our surprise, the coffee smells and tastes awful. May daughter gave a good name to it: PUTRID. I had my sister come over and taste it, and she was baffeled also. Someone said we need to use it a lot before it tastes good. But, how much coffee do we have to waste? I decided it is just as bad as putting some rubbing alcohol in it and trying to drink it. Just thinking about it makes me gag. I called the store where we got it, and they said we could bring it back. But, what kind of coffeemaker should we get instead?

p.s. I left the lemon juice sit in the water well for about 15 minutes before I turned it on…

Hope these help if not go to coffeeseekers.com and maybe purchase a Bunn, That is what I have and love it.

Hi, umm i’m looking to give coffee another try and was hoping to get a recommendation on the best coffee maker out there for a total noob on coffee. Maybe something suitable for a dorm room, easy to clean, and makes great coffee.

P.S. Always wanted to look cool drinking coffee and reading. >.<

French Press is my favorite. You’d need a microwave or an electric kettle to heat the water in a dorm room. A regular drip brewer would probably be easier in that situation.
More important than how it’s brewed, though, is the coffee itself. Without having any idea where you are, it’s hard to make a recommendation. Expect to pay between $10-15 per pound (or up) for good coffee.
If your area doesn’t have good tap water, make sure to use filtered or bottled water when brewing coffee.

Excellent value for the price

About a year ago I wanted an espresso machine that was easy to use, however I was unwilling to pay 1k or more for a fully automatic machine. The Capresso turned out to be an excellent value, providing ease of use with semi-automatic ground disposal and a reasonably sized water container.

In fact, we have experienced only two problems with the Capresso since we bought it: a torn o-ring and clogging. The o-ring tore because I did not clean the rotation mechanism for several months. The accumulated grounds eventually tore into the o-ring, breaking the pressure seal. However, when I called the Capresso help line to discuss our broken o-ring, the help desk agent immediately sent us two replacements in the mail with no questions asked. Total down time for the machine was a mere two days. The clogging was fixed with a complete cleaning, and if truth be told, it did say in the instruction booklet not to use very finely ground coffee.

Our last espresso machine, besides breaking after two years, was so difficult to use and clean we only made espresso on special occasions. The Capresso is convenient enough that we use it all the time. In fact, we have used our Mr. Coffee only twice (note the broken o-ring comment above) since we bought the Capresso.

After a year of use, I can still strongly recommend this product.

READ ME FIRST: We added a new peripheral to the kitchen (server room) at work — a Keurig Single Cup Coffee Maker. This device spits out one single cup of coffee. What inspired me to film this Alfred.TV review is that the coffee reminds me of inkjet cartridges, that are punctured when inserted into the device. Amazing.

…soon as coffee is done?
In January we bought this unit and loved it! In April it started shutting off immediately after cooking the coffee. We tried everything, finally called Customer Service and was told to take it back for replacement. Did that in May, the second unit worked perfectly until last week and is now shutting off immediately. Called customer service — take it back was the suggestion — with the 3 year warranty we will be able to get a new coffee maker every 3-6 months forever if this continues! Anyone else having the same problem? Were you able to fix it?

mine has been working fine.. however I’ve had it for only less than a year.. we try to clean it after every use to keep it in prime condition.
